Before Windows XP, user PCs and notebooks often did not ship with Microsoft Terminal Services client automatically installed. To avoid installing the Terminal Services client on each PC, you can deploy Remote Desktop Web Connection from the Access Point.
Follow the instructions below to setup Terminal Services in a Web browser.
Download Remote Desktop Web Connection from Microsoft
Create the Tunnel Resource
Create the Tunnel Set
In a browser, enter http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=469eee3a-45b4-4b40-b695-b678646a728b&displaylang=en#affinity to access the Microsoft download site for Remote Desktop Web Connection: XPSP2.
Click Download and then Save to save the program to disk.
Create a folder on the Administration Service.
In the Administration Interface, click Browse in the top menu.
Navigate to Administration Service\files\access-point\custom-files\wwwroot\
Click Create Folder
Enter folder name TSWeb.
Run the tswebsetup.exe program.
When prompted, save the "sample Web pages" to the TSWeb folder created above.
The following steps are performed in the Administration Interface.
In the main menu, select Manage Resource Access and then click Tunnel Resources in the left-hand menu.
Click the Add Tunnel Resource Host link.
Enter general settings.
Example:
Display Name:TSWeb Resource
Host: <your Terminal Server's IP address>
TCP Port: 3389
Click Next.
Select applicable access rules to protect the tunnel resource and click Next.
Click Finish Wizard.
Note: Create a Tunnel Resource for every Terminal Server you wish the client to be able to access. Different Tunnel Resources can be protected with different access rules if some server needs different protection.
The following steps are performed in the Administration Interface.
In the main menu, select Manage Resource Access and then click Tunnel Sets in the left-hand menu.
Click the Add Tunnel Set link.
Enter general settings.
Example:
Display Name:TSWeb Tunnel Set
Click the Add Dynamic Tunnel link.
Enter settings.
Example:
Resource:TSWeb Resource
Virtual IP Address: <your Terminal Server's IP address>
Resource Port: 3389
Click Add.
Note: Add dynamic tunnels for all tunnel resources you wish to connect to using this tunnel set.
Configure Portal Settings
Example:
Select the Make tunnel set available in the Portal checkbox.
Select an icon from the Select Icon in Icon Library link.
Link Text: Terminal Services Web
Click Next.
Enter Advanced Settings:
Redirect URL: /TSWeb/default.htm
Click Next.
Select applicable access rules to protect the tunnel resource and click Next.
Click Finish Wizard.
Click Publish in the top menu.
